SHARC Attack In Sunriver – Grand Opening A Succsess

Sunriver Celebrates Memorial Day Weekend With The Grand Opening Of The Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic & Recreation Center

The SHARC center saw its grand opening on Saturday May 26th, 2012. On Friday night, the evening before the much anticipated facilities opening, many Sunriver visitors had already made their way in to town. Living and working in Sunriver, it was easy for me to see just how much the resort was abuzz with families, visiting Sunriver homeowners and parties of visitors excited to enjoy the big weekend. Memorial Day weekend, often thought of as the beginning of Summer did not deliver on Summer like temperatures (it snowed on Friday morning). However, by 10am Saturday morning already 1,000 of those visitors had made their way down to the SHARC for some fun. The SROA provided live music throughout the day from some well known musicians, along with snow cones, magic shows, popcorn and even offered free admission to visitors in exchange for two canned food items (which benefited Sunriver Care & Share, a local charity). I took a stroll down to the SHARC Saturday afternoon to enjoy some live music. When I arrived to the SHARC around 4pm, it was about 55 degrees… To my surprise I found tons of kids playing and splashing in the extensive SHARC outdoor pool system. When the day ended and the final tally was taken, over 5,600 visitors had enjoyed Sunriver’s newest addition. Sunday was another big day at the SHARC but, the flood of SHARC patrons had subsided for the most part by Monday afternoon. All in all there were over 10,000 admissions to the SHARC over the Memorial Day Weekend.
